KNOW YOUR ZONE!

The Palm Beach County Division of Emergency Management encourages all residents to “Know Your Zone.”  Knowing your storm surge evacuation area, flood zone, nearest shelter location, grocery and building supply stores with emergency generators, and gas stations with transfer switches to emergency power is an important step to ensure that you and your family are prepared for a hurricane.

HURRICANE SHELTERS: General, Special Needs, Pet Friendly

There are 15 General Population Shelters throughout Palm Beach County, 1 Special Needs Shelter and 1 Pet Friendly Shelter.  Shelters should be used as a last resort.  You should use one near your residence.  Be sure you know the route, and do not go until you hear from officials that your shelter has opened.  Be sure to advise family and friends that you have evacuated and where you will be.  Shelters have a limited capacity and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
